Oak Harbor High School’s Baelee Whitinger posted district qualifying times in the 100 and 200 freestyles to lead the Wildcats at the junior varsity championship swim meet Thursday, Oct. 27, at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

As a team, Oak Harbor placed third out of the eight Wesco schools that took part.

4A Lake Stevens won with 474 points, followed by Stanwood (377) and Oak Harbor (365).

The event is also called the “last chance meet,” giving swimmers a final opportunity to earn district times.

Whitinger was the only Wildcat to break the district barrier, but Oak Harbor piled up “lots of personal best times,” according to coach Jenny Butler.

The district finals are 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Snohomish Aquatic Center.
