After dropping the first two games, the Oak Harbor volleyball team exploded for three straight wins and a come-from-behind 3-2 win over host Mountlake Terrace Tuesday, Oct. 19.
The win helped Oak Harbor (4-3, 7-4) keep pace in the Wesco 3A standings and share third with Everett and Glacier Peak. The top six teams advance to the playoffs; Oak Harbor is up on the seventh-place team by two games with three left.
Things were shaky for the Wildcats in the early going against last-place Mountlake Terrace (1-6, 3-8) as the Hawks took the fist two games 25-21, 25-22.
Oak Harbor got back on track by cruising to 25-14, 25-16 wins in the next two sets, then pulled out a 15-12 win in fifth game to avoid the upset.
Jordan Faralan handed out 45 assists and also aided the offense with 10 kills. Roshel Muzzall and Amanda Blau each kicked in 13 kills for the ‘Cats.
Oak Harbor entertains Lynnwood (2-5, 6-5) Thursday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
