Aspiring basketball players in grades fourth through ninth with dreams of someday donning the purple and gold and stepping onto the hardwood floor as a member of the Oak Harbor High School varsity learned the basics at a three-day summer camp at the high school.

Conducted by head coach Mike Washington and assistant coach Justin Ronning, the young hoopsters were put through their paces developing their skills.

Harrison Reaves and Chance Gill, both freshmen at OHHS, said the camp was a lot of work, but they were learning things that would help them play better.

About 15 kids were in attendance Wednesday afternoon, ranging in skill level from those who were accomplished ball handlers and shooters, to those who were still learning how to dribble with their off hand.

One aspect was present, they were big time enthusiastic and all of them plan on playing for the Wildcats some day.
