Olivia Tungate of the North Whidbey Aquatic Club set a new Pacific Northwest Swimming record at the PNS championships Friday, July 26, at Federal Way’s King County Aquatic Center.

The PNS finals started Thursday and wrap up Sunday.

Tungate, 12, won the 200 butterfly in 2:24.15 for the new PNS mark while posting the nation’s third-best time in her age group. She also placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:09.59) and third in the 400 freestyle (4:47.54) Friday and second in the 200 individual medley (2:30.36) Thursday.

Kelly Huffer, 13, picked up a first for NWAC in the 1,500 free Thursday, clocking descending splits on the way to an 18:32.92. She also finished fourth in the 200 IM (2:29.3) Thursday and third in the 200 fly (2:23.3) and sixth in the 400 free (4:45.26) Friday.

Emily Huffer, 16, swam to fourth in the 200 fly (2:26:09) Friday.
