Track: Wildcats start season at jamboree

The Oak Harbor track teams started the 2010 season by participating in the South Whidbey Jamboree at Langley Thursday, March 17.
No team scores were kept in the event which featured Oak Harbor, South Whidbey and Lakewood high schools.
The Wildcat girls dominated the meet by winning eight of 13 events. Oak Harbor’s Adrianna Royal grabbed two of the firsts by winning the 800 meters (2:31.53) and 1,600 (5:22).
Other Wildcat winners were Naomi Walker (100, 13.06), Amanda Alvarado (shot, 31-07.75), Dominique Jackson (discus, 82-04), Janelle Yoshimoto (javelin, 99-03), Shantae Young (long jump, 17-05) and the four-by-400 relay team (Allison Duvenez, Hannah Bressler, Maura McKole and Bri Peterson, 4:28.7).
The Oak Harbor boys picked up wins from Jason Curles in the 200 (27.7) and Aaron Boesch in the high jump (5-02).
The highest finishes by Wildcat girls in each of the events they did not win were Duvenez, second, 100 hurdles, 17.31; Katelyn Bristow, fourth, high jump, 4-06; Ciera Wiser, sixth, 200, 30.86; and Megan Duhrkopf, 10th, 400, 1:11.96.
The top Wildcat boys in each event were Donovan Hunt, second, 100, 11.64, and second, long jump, 20-11; Austin Church, second, shot, 34-07.5, and sixth, discus, 86-05; Connor Meyers, third, 400, 59.12; John Kaltenbach, sixth, 1,600, 5:04.4; and Dakota Sinchak, eighth, javelin, 90-04.
The four-by-400 relay team of Matt Bolte, Chris Opdyke, Josh Sayre and Joshua Crebbin finished second (3:50.1).
