Tack swims to 8 records as NWAC finishes 3rd

Paced by the record-setting performance of Ethan Tack, the North Whidbey Aquatic Club finished third in the 24-team KING Invitational July 15 to 17 at Federal Way.

Paced by the record-setting performance of Ethan Tack, the North Whidbey Aquatic Club finished third in the 24-team KING Invitational July 15 to 17 at Federal Way.

Tack, en route to winning eight events, set eight team records and smashed a 29-year-old Pacific Northwest Swimming record in the 50-meter butterfly. Swimming in the 10 to 12 age bracket, Tack trimmed nearly two seconds off the 50-fly mark with a 32.27.

Other NWAC event winners included John Hu, Jacob Jepsen and Lucas Tack. Other NWAC team record setters included Lucas Tack, Olivia Tungate and Laura Rosen.

Gold cuts were earned by Bon Bainco, Harrison Tack, Lucas Tack, Brett Vagt, Brannigan Vogt and Nicole Vogt; and silver cuts were recorded by Sam Hines, Joey Jepsen and Kelsey Vogt.

Jillian Pape, Molly Vagt and Cole Weinstein established Pacific Northwest Swim cuts.

One-hundred percent personal records were met by Emily Huffer, Clayton Livermore, Marissa Morris, Pape, Harrison Tack and Kelsey Vogt in the finals. In the prelims, 100 percent PRs were clocked by Huffer, Morris, Pape, Ashley Vogt and Kelsey Vogt.

NWAC Swimmer of the Meet honors went to Morris. She placed in the top eight in all nine events, PR’d every swim, dropped an average of four seconds per 100 meters and improved 23 seconds in the 200 breaststroke (3:08.42).

NWAC next competes in the PNS championship meet in Federal Way July 28 to 31.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.

Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
