The Oak Harbor Legion baseball team received strong pitching performances in both games of its double header at Mount Vernon Tuesday, June 16, but came away with only one win.

The Wildcats, behind a three-hit shutout by Tyler Snavely, won the opener 5-0. Chad Spradlin also tossed a three-hitter, but Oak Harbor dropped the nightcap 1-0.

Snavely struck out seven and walked two, while he and Preston Rankin led the Wildcats’ offense with three hits each.

Oak Harbor scored in the third inning when Dylan Bailey reached on an error and Rankin singled.

In the sixth, Rankin doubled and scored on Steven Richards’ single.

Oak Harbor put the game away with a three-run seventh. A walk to Bailey and consecutive hits by Snavely, Trent Benson and Rankin led the rally.

Taylor Consford also singled twice for Oak Harbor.

In the second game, Oak Harbor produced only four hits, two of those came from the first two batters in the seventh as the Wildcats tried to come back. Three consecutive outs ended the threat.

Bailey collected two of the hits; Robert Herring and Avery Aguirre picked up the others.

Mount Vernon scored in the sixth on a hit and error.

Spradlin struck out three and walked two.

Oak Harbor (3-5, 4-5) heads to Seattle this weekend to compete in the Rainier Beach Tournament.
