The Stanwood High School wrestling team won both the featured individual bout and the overall match against visiting Oak Harbor Tuesday, Jan. 27.

The Spartans won 43-34 to even their Wesco record to 2-2 (13-8 overall); Oak Harbor fell to 1-3 (4-6).

Oak Harbor completes the regular season when Marysville Getchell (0-4, 4-8) visits at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29.

The highlight of the Stanwood-Oak Harbor match was the 138-pound bout between the state’s top-two ranked 3A wrestlers. No. 1 West Wienert of Stanwood topped Oak Harbor’s Jeremy Vester 5-2.

Wienert finished second in the state at 126 pounds in 2013 and fourth last year. Vester placed fourth at 132 in 2014.

Oak Harbor won four matches by falls: Robert Pennington (106, 1:16), Aaron Fletcher (120, 1:40), Mark Johnston (160, 2:40) and Jackson Constant (285, 1:44).

Garrett Stahl (113) won a major decision, 14-6, and Eriq Boler (152) won by forfeit.
