Roche Harbor’s annual Salmon Classic Invitational 2009, billed as the largest black mouth tournament in the world, is scheduled for Feb. 7 to 9.

But if anglers want to enter the competition for a chance at one of the big prizes, they’d better hurry.

Tournament officials report that as of Oct. 8, there were only 50 spots left open.

The sixth Annual Salmon Classic Invitational at Roche Harbor Marine and Resort is a three-day sport fishing extravaganza that attracts anglers from all over the Northwest and Canada.

With over $25,000 dollars in cash and prizes, this event brings out fishermen from all walks of life to fish the waters around Roche Harbor’s waters. Cash prizes include $10,000 for first place, $5,000 for second place and $1,500 for third.

Last year the derby sold out on Dec. 7, so get your entry fee in now.

Calling all Snowriders

The South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District is registering winter sports enthusiasts for its Snowrider program.

The adult program is on Tuesdays and the youth half of the program is scheduled for Saturdays.

Pick ups are scheduled for Coupeville and South Whidbey, plus a pick up in Everett on the Tuesday bus. This is your opportunity to come out and learn something new.
