Wesco South 3A leader Shorecrest stung the Oak Harbor soccer team 4-0 Thursday, Oct. 3, at Wildcat Memorial Stadium.
The Scots (4-1, 6-1-1) hammered away from long distance all night, sending home two goals in each half.
Oak Harbor coach Mike Lonborg said, “They basically just out possessed us. We did not close down the middle very well and they had good passing skills. We are still making some minor mental mistakes but it is improving.”
Oak Harbor’s Jen Turnek nearly broke up the shutout, pounding a shot off the cross bar and another just above in the final 20 minutes.
Lonborg said, “We’re building a good foundation and improving, but we still have a ways to go, but the girls are working hard towards that.”
Oak Harbor (1-4, 3-4-1) travels to Edmonds Stadium to meet Meadowdale (3-2, 6-2) at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8.
