The Wildcats scored three goals in the first half – all off headers – to defeat the Bruins.

It was a satisfying win for Oak Harbor which lost Cascade 8-0 earlier this season when the ‘Cats were short-handed. Since getting everyone back, Oak Harbor has picked up two wins and lost several close matches.

Marcos Anjos scored six minutes into the game off an assist from Caleb Gatica. Ten minutes later Greg Wolfe found the back of the net with the help of Ryan Fakkema. Michael Shevchuk finished the Oak Harbor scoring off a Wolfe assist.

Cascade (3-11) scored two quick goals in the second half, but Oak Harbor “packed in the box” and held on according to coach Brian Thompson.

Oak Harbor (2-11) has three matches left; two are against league powers Lake Stevens (10-2-1) and Snohomish (9-4-1). Snohomish comes to Wildcat Memorial Stadium Friday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m.; Monroe (6-5-2) visits Monday, May 3. The ‘Cats finish the season at Lakes Stevens Wednesday, May 5.

The Vikings and Panthers are ranked 5-6 in the state 4A poll.
