Snohomish stops Oak Harbor / Softball

The Oak Harbor High School softball team hung with one of the Western Conference’s top teams for most of the afternoon, but Snohomish blew open a close game with a seven-run fifth inning to defeat the visiting Wildcats 11-1 in five innings Friday, April 26.

Oak Harbor’s record dropped to 2-8 (4-12) with the loss, and the Wildcats sit in 11th place in the RPI rankings with four games remaining. The top 10 qualify for the postseason.

Snohomish (7-1, 11-2) led only 4-1 heading into the fifth inning, then combined seven hits with a hit batter and a wild pitch to cement the win.

Oak Harbor scored its run in the top of the fourth inning on a Sam Scott home run.

Madisyn Erbe and Annabel Thayer singled for Oak Harbor’s only other hits in the game.

The Wildcats play at Marysville Getchell (8-2, 13-3) at 4 p.m. Monday, April 29.
