Oak Harbor sends 6 to state / Track

Three individuals and one relay team from the Oak Harbor High School track team qualified for the state meet at the district championships Wednesday and Friday, May 15 and 17, at Shoreline Stadium.

The state meet is Thursday through Saturday, May 23-25, at Tacoma’s Mount Tahoma High School.

The top four finishers at district earned state berths.

The best finish at district for Oak Harbor was Natalie French’s third place in the 800 (2:22.69).

French teamed with Brenna Rothman, Morgan Pease and Courtney VanGiesen to take fourth in the 4×400 (4:13.44).

On the boys side, Michael Fisken was fourth in the discus (145-06) and Juan Luna-Elliott placed fourth in the high jump (5-11).

French also placed seventh in the 400 (1:02.47), while Fisken was seventh in the shot put (44-07.5) and Luna-Elliott 11th in the long jump (19-02.75).

Other girls placing in the district meet were Maria Dailey (sixth, 100, 13.43), Cami Bristow (seventh, javelin, 96-02) and Jasmine Ford (eighth, discus, 106-09).

The 4×100 team of Jessica Vester, Brooke Treichel, Karmyn McKee and Dailey took seventh (52.04); and the 4×200 team of Dailey, Leielle Salinger, Vester and Pease was eighth (1:50.8)

Michael Gomez was fifth in the discus (143) and eighth in the javelin (149-10) for the Wildcat boys.

The 4×400 relay team of Bennett Andersen, Josh Stone, Caden Leckelt and Joe Ralston placed seventh (3:34.83).

Edmonds-Woodway won both the girls and boys titles in the 14-team meet.

The Warrior girls scored 110.5; Oak Harbor was 10th at 22).

The E-W boys tallied 116; the Wildcats finished in 12th with 19.
