The Oak Harbor High School baseball team hasn’t won often this season, but when it does win, it wins with ease.

All three of the Wildcats’ wins have been by at least 10 runs, the latest 12-1 in five innings over visiting Everett Tuesday, April 22.

Oak Harbor blended eight hits with seven walks and four Seagull errors to up its league record to 3-9 (3-12 overall).

Oak Harbor’s game at Everett (1-9, 1-12) Wednesday, April 23, was rained out and will be played at 4 p.m. Monday, April 28.

Everett returns to Oak Harbor at 4 p.m. Friday, April 25.

Oak Harbor got the rout started with two runs in the first inning as it scored two runs won a hit batter, Brent Mertins’ triple and a ground out.

Jozef Mendoza’s double plated a run in the second, then Oak Harbor tacked on four more runs in the third.

Mertins singled, stole second and went to third on an error. Danny Wolfe drove him home with a sacrifice fly.

After an out, Brandon Bailey walked, Tyler Snavely singled and two Everett errors allowed three runs to score.

In the fifth, singles by Casiano Atienza, Kevin Johnson and Mertins and four walks led to five runs.

Mendoza pitched the five-inning complete game, yielding four hits. He was aided by two double plays.
