Oak Harbor’s two-run rally in the seventh inning came up one run short as the Wildcat baseball team fell 3-2 at Bellingham Thursday, March 20.

The Wildcats had a runner on third in four of the first six innings and a runner at second in another, but couldn’t punch a run across until the seventh.

In the seventh, Teddy Peterschmidt doubled and scored after on a Bellingham error off the bat of Kevin Johnson. Johnson scored on another Raider error.

Bellingham scored one in the first off starter Tyler Snavely on a walk, stolen base and single. Snavely held the Raiders in check until the fifth. When two runners reached with one out, Jozef Mendoza took over on the mound. A single, hit batter and error produced two runs.

Peterschmidt and Brent Mertins each had two hits, including a double, for Oak Harbor. Danny Wolfe singled twice, and Nate Stanford and C.J. Meders added singles.

Oak Harbor (0-2) plays at Sehome High School (0-3) at noon Saturday, March 22.
