Anacortes took advantage of early Oak Harbor mistakes to topple the host Wildcats 72-56 Saturday, Dec. 12.

With the score tied at nine midway through the first quarter, Anacortes scored 14 of its next 17 points off Wildcat turnovers to take a 26-13 lead going into the second period.

Five of the next seven Seahawk points also followed Oak Harbor miscues as Anacortes built a 20-point (42-22) halftime lead.

Anacortes did much of its damage in the first half from beyond the arc, sinking five three-pointers in the first period and four in the second.

With the help of 10 points from Dyllan Harris, Oak Harbor trimmed the lead to 55-41 going into the final period and then sliced it to 10, 55-45, on buckets by Harris and Sean Erskine but couldn’t get any closer.

Anacortes (3-2) helped its cause by hauling in 20 offensive rebounds (good for 10 second-chance points) and outscoring Oak Harbor 15-4 at the foul line.

Harris led all scorers with 29 points; he also collected six rebounds.

Diangelo McKinney had eight points and three steals; Sean Erskine collected four points and three assists.

Bryce Diras added six points, Ozell Jackson three, Adam Nelson two, Preston Rankin two and Savion Hollins-Passmore two.

Four Seahawks scored in double figures, topped by Trystan Lowry with 23.

Oak Harbor (0-5) entertains Meadowdale (3-2) at 7:15 p.m.  Tuesday, Dec. 15.
