Oak Harbor hammers South Whidbey / Softball

Pounding out 15 hits, the Oak Harbor High School softball team thumped visiting South Whidbey 19-3 in the season opener Tuesday, March 12.

Cierra LeGendre was not only one of the hitting stars but picked up the win in the circle, tossing a three-hitter with four strikeouts, one earned run and no walks.

On offense, the senior collected four hits, one a triple, and drove in four runs.

She received plenty of support from her teammates. Abigale Fierro was 3-for-3 and scored two runs; Kayla Crocker smacked two hits, including a home run, drove in five runs and scored twice; Kait Scheer had two hits, one a double, and scored three runs; and Cierra Dean tallied a single, double, two RBI and two runs.

Oak Harbor (1-0) plays Cascade (1-0) at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Everett’s Evergreen Middle School.
