Oak Harbor gets started at district meet / Track

Oak Harbor had six athletes place among the top eight during the first day of the District 1 track championships Wednesday, May 16, at Shoreline Stadium.

Finals for six events were held Wednesday; the meet will conclude on Friday.

Oak Harbor’s best showing came in the girls javelin where Lydia Dorsey (112), Cami Bristow (111-05) and Samantha Hines (110-10) finished 4-5-6. Bristow was also 14th in the discus (87).

Isaac Gomez (45-11) and Michael Fisken (45-06.25) finished fifth and sixth in the boys shot put.

Andrew Miller (20-11.25) and Kyle Nickols (19-08.5) took fifth and ninth in the boys long jump.

Alex Smith was 10th in the girls 1,600 (5:20.57), and Jenna Cooley placed 13th in the long jump (14-01.75).

The top three in each event qualify for the state meet.
