Oak Harbor earns split at Snohomish | Swimming

The Wildcats defeated Snohomish 105-73 and lost to Glacier Peak 98-84.

Oak Harbor won two more events than the Grizzlies, but Glacier Peak used it depth to secure the win.

“I must say that I was extremely impressed that the girls’ times were right where they left off last season,” Wildcat coach Erin Bull said. “It’s like we are picking up where we left off, and it can only get better from here.”

Six Wildcats posted district qualifying times in the meet:

Marissa Morris (200-yard freestyle, 2:08.42; 100 backstroke, 1:05.38), Erica Sugatan (200 individual medley, 2:36.02; 100 back, 1:10.63), Taliah Black (200 IM, 2:23.39; 100 breaststroke, 1:13.5), Jillian Pape (50 free, 26.16; 100 butterfly, 1:03.82), Sophie Dickinson (500 free, 6:40.42) and Baelee Whitinger (100 back, 1:11.27).

Oak Harbor won seven of the 13 events, with Morris (200 free, 100 back) and Pape (50 free, 100 fly) each winning two individual races. The pair also swam on the winning 200-free relay team with Black and Naomi Garcia (1:53.41).

Pape added a fourth win when she teamed with Black, Garcia and Sugatan to capture the 200 medley relay (2:03.51).

Black took the 100 breaststroke for the other Wildcat win.

Oak Harbor (1-1) travels to Everett’s Forest Park Pool to face the Seagulls (0-1) at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.
