NWAC unleashes double a-Tack on Kamiak

Brothers Ethan and Lucas Tack guided the North Whidbey Aquatic Club at the Kamiak Age Group Invitational Feb. 25 to 27 at Mukilteo's Kamiak High School.

Brothers Ethan and Lucas Tack guided the North Whidbey Aquatic Club at the Kamiak Age Group Invitational Feb. 25 to 27 at Mukilteo’s Kamiak High School.

Ethan Tack won three events in the boys 9-10 division, including the 50 fly in which he set a Pacific Northwest Swimming record (29.50). His other team records were in the 100 back (1:06.74) and 100 breast (1:20.68).

Younger brother Lucas Tack toppled a 15-year-old team record in the boys 8-and-under 50 fly (38.66).
Another Tack, Harrison, accomplished 100 percent personal bests in the finals, as did Irysh Concepcion.
Brannigan Vogt posted 100 percent PR preliminary times.

New PNS Gold cuts were earned by Jerrin Concepcion, Mariel Empinado and Mary Middleton; new Age Group Sectional Championship cuts by Kelly Huffer, Michael Johnson and Marissa Morris; and new Western Zone Championships cuts by Laura Rosen, Olivia Tungate and Cole Weinstein.

Irysh Concepcion joined the Minute Club.

Event winners were Ciara Hu, Emily Huffer, Price Hu, Jacob Jepsen, Johnson, Morris, Ethan Tack and Tungate.

NWAC next competes March 5 and 6 at the March Madness Meet in Silverdale where it will field a team of 30 athletes.

The North Whidbey Aquatic Club is a competitive swimming program of the North Whidbey Park and Recreation District. It includes swimmers of all abilities and ages from 6 through college.

Tryouts occur Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the city pool from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. New swimmers should be able to swim a length of the pool in freestyle and backstroke. The first two weeks are free.
