Two fumbles deep in the red zone, a long pass play and a third-quarter defensive stand at the 7-yard line resulted in Oak Harbor High School’s 22-0 loss to Everett in Friday’s non-league football game.The experienced Seagulls took advantage of young Wildcat team’s inexperience on both sides of the ball and dominated most all of 48 minutes in the contest.

Everett got on the board first with 4:07 remaining in the opening quarter when George Posades broke off a 46-yard touchdown off right tackle.

Ben Barhanoovich booted the extra point for a 7-0 lead and Oak Harbor was never able to recover.

In the second quarter Seagulls’ quarterback Chase Herrick capped an 11- play drive hitting split end Jake Frauenholtz with a 7-yard scoring pass and the extra point gave Everett a 14-0 lead.

The Wildcats came back with a 7-play drive of their own after the kickoff pushing the ball to the Everett 4-yard line, only to fumble the ball away.

Everett had the ball for three plays and Oak Harbor caught a break. Curtis Duckin recovered a fumble at the Seagull 15-yard line putting the Wildcat offense back in business.

However, on the first play from scrimmage, Oak Harbor fumbled again and the Seagulls were able to recover the loose ball and snuff out the Wildcats’ second scoring opportunity within a span of less than two minutes.

Leading 14-0 at halftime, Everett put a cap on the scoring at the 8:35 mark of the third period on a 53 yard Herrick to Frauenholtz touchdown pass.

The snap on the extra-point try was low, but Michael Murray was able to run the ball in the end zone for the 2-point conversion.

Oak Harbor had a pair of chances late in the third quarter but an intercepted pass at the 4-yard line ended one scoring opportunity and the Seagull defense stopped Stephen Lewis two yards short of the end zone on a fourth and goal attempt, forcing the Wildcats to turn the ball over on downs.
