Local teams take titles in 3v3 soccer tournament

Four local teams won their divisions in the annual Rock On! 3v3 Soccer Tournament Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26, at Fort Nugent Park.

Four local teams won their divisions in the annual Rock On! 3v3 Soccer Tournament Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26, at Fort Nugent Park.

In all 43 teams and 213 players in 18 divisions took part in the tournament.

Two teams comprised of mostly Oak Harbor High School soccer players battled for the BU16-18 title, with The Playyyaaas (Bernard DeGuzman, Chase Muller, Tommy Murphy, Ben McCornack and Isaiah Trower) defeating the Power Rangers (Caley Powers, Dakota Powers, Gavin Stewart, Tanner Gates and Blake Dimock) after the Power Rangers topped The Playyyaaas in pool play.

The e-LEMON-ators (OHHS players Hayley Lundstrom, Lauryn Plush, Alyssa Eden, Nalani Gabbert and Sabrina Wilk) defeated the Fantastic Five (Coupeville and South Whidbey players Mickayla LeVine, Paige Waterman, Annika Field, Jennifer Spark and Kendra Warwick) for the GU16-18 crown.

Other local teams picking up titles were Jamaica (BU13-15) and the Fab Five (GU11-12).

Joining the Whidbey teams in the tournament were clubs from Lynden, Bellingham, Snohomish, Burlington, Everett and Federal Way.
