Oak Harbor junior Annie Leete broke a 39-year-old school record by shooting a blistering 70 to scorch the rest of the field in day one of the 3A district girls golf tournament at Marysville’s Cedarcrest Golf Course Tuesday, May 14.

Leete isn’t the only Wildcat peaking at the right time. Last week in the league meet, four Oak Harbor players shot personal bests. The Wildcats received four more PRs at district and all six players made the cut to help Oak Harbor finish second in the team standings to Glacier Peak.

The Grizzlies shot 461, Oak Harbor 473 and Shorecrest 485 to lead the 11-team field.

The tournament continues today (Wednesday, May 15) as Leete and company play round two to determine the individual champion.

Leete’s even-par 70 is 14 strokes better than second-place Alisa Wilson of Glacier Peak.

The 70 obliterated a nearly 40-year-old Oak Harbor High School record set by Eve Patterson, who shot a 74 in 1974.

Wildcat Bree Roderos sits in eighth with a 93, followed by KC Winfield (15th, 99), Cassidy Gurich (19th, 102), Katie Brockway (29th, 109) and Resego Mooki (35th, 112) out of 57 golfers.
