Hunt helps ‘Cats gun down Getchell | Fastpitch

Emily Hunt hurled a three-hitter and struck out 12 batters as the Oak Harbor fastpitch team won 5-3 at Marysville Getchell Tuesday, April 10.

Oak Harbor also battled to a 7-7 tie at Shorewood Wednesday before the game was suspended because of rain. The game will resume when Shorewood comes to Oak Harbor May 7.

Against Getchell, the Wildcats plated three runs in the third to open the scoring. Riley Thompson singled and Kelsey Rankin doubled to put two on. Marissa Fakkema drilled a double over the left fielder’s head to score two and then scored on an error.

After Getchell scored in the fifth, Oak Harbor tallied twice in the sixth. McKenzie DeMarsh walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored on Morgan Young’s single. Shawna Steele and Samm Zimmerman followed with hits to score Young.

The Chargers (0-5, 1-7) also scored twice in the sixth.

Next up for Oak Harbor (1-5, 3-7) are two home games at 4 p.m., Glacier Peak (4-2, 6-3) Friday and Lynnwood (5-1, 6-2) Tuesday.
