The Oak Harbor High School soccer team finished a string of four matches against teams ranked in the state’s top 20 by losing 6-0 to Mountlake Terrace at Lynnwood High School Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The Wildcats (1-7, 3-7-1) close out its matches with the powerful Wesco South with Glacier Peak (2-6, 3-7-1) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in Oak Harbor.

Coach Mike Lonborg said, “Mountlake Terrace had some pretty major speed that we could not compete with.”

He said his club was also hurt by the loss of three starters to injuries.

The Wildcats did create some scoring chances, Lonborg said, but couldn’t “cash in.”

He added, “We need to play mistake-free soccer right now to compete, and if we don’t then that’s when we have issues.”

McKenna Hunt scored a hat trick and added an assist for the Hawks (6-2, 8-3). Lily Hunt scored twice.
