Ground Zero competes in 3 events

Oak Harbor athletes for the Ground Zero artistic and trampoline/tumbling teams competed in several competitions over the weekend.

The artistic team participated in the Washington Xcel Silver State Championships Saturday, March 16, and at the Last Chance Meet Sunday, March 17, in Lynnwood.

The trampoline and tumbling team took part in the Derby Days Invitational Saturday in Maple Valley.

At the Xcel Silver State Championships, Eva Bazar (child E age group) was 10th in floor exercise (9.1), 11th in bars (9.15) and beam (9.025), 19th in vault (8.8) and 15th overall (36.075). She qualified for the regional tournament in Monroe in April.

In the Last Chance event, Jordyn Lovett (gold senior age group) was second on beam (9.475), seventh on vault (8.85), 10th on bars (8.775) and floor (8.875) and fourth overall (35.975). She earned a spot in the state meet March 29 in Kennewick.

At Maple Valley, awards were given for each level regardless of age or gender.

Trevor Haskins napped three firsts – Level 6 trampoline and double-mini and Level 4 tumbling.

Izzy Renn was first in Level 3 trampoline and Level 4 double-mini and third in Level 3 tumbling.

Alison Lovett snared first in Level 6 trampoline and second in Level 6 double-mini and Level 4 tumbling.

Ari Crist finished first in Level 3 tumbling and second in Level 4 trampoline.

Gabby Renn was second in Level 3 trampoline and Level 4 double-mini and third in Level 3 tumbling.

Kaitlyn Rozycki (Level 7 trampoline, Level 5 tumbling) and Tempy Troyer (Level 4 trampoline, Level 5 double-mini) each earned two seconds.

Ground Zero will compete in the state tournament March 30 in Maple Valley.
