Cedar Park Christian, powered by a 26-point first quarter, blitzed the host Coupeville girls basketball team 70-38 in a nonleague game Thursday, Jan. 27.

The red-hot Eagles from Bothell hit seven of their first eight field-goal attempts and their first five free throws on the way to a 26-4 first quarter lead. The offensive outburst was aided by 10 Coupeville turnovers in the opening period.

Cedar Park, who is 14-2 and in second place in the Emerald City League, led 43-15 at the half and 58-24 after three quarters.

Rachel Staudacher guided the Eagles with 24 points and five assists in the first half. She finished with 32 points.

Kendra O’Keefe scored 12 points for the Wolves, followed by Cassidi Rosenkrance with eight. Amanda Manker and Bessie Walstad had six each, while Katie Smith, Jai’Lysa Hoskins and Courtney Arnold had two apiece.

Coach Jackie Bykonen said, “I’m not sure why, but we came out kind of flat. We had spurts of energy, and spurts of no energy. It was just kind of a strange game.”

The Wolves (2-8, 3-13) go to Granite Falls (5-5, 7-9) tonight, Jan. 28, and then host Sultan (3-7, 3-13) Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m.
