The Coupeville High School tennis team completed a three-match season sweep of Chimacum with a 7-0 win in Port Townsend Thursday, Oct. 16.

The Wolves finished the regular season with a 4-5 record and now wait for word on the league tournament.

Coach Ken Stange said the date of the conference tournament has not been determined but most likely will be played in Port Townsend.

Coupeville will take three singles players and three doubles teams to the tournament, according to Stange.

“We’ve had a fair amount of movement on the doubles ladder this year, so we will be shaking out our doubles lineup tomorrow,” he added.

In the final win over the Cowboys, Stange said, “We could not have asked the weather gods for a more pleasant mid-October day in Port Townsend, nor could we have asked the tennis gods for a better day on the court. We absolutely pasted the Chimacum squad today, ending our regular season on an extremely high note.

“I’m quite happy that our players continued to improve, posting better scores as they played the same players for the second and third times.”

Coupeville won all seven matches in straight sets, taking 11 of 14 by scores of 6-0 or 6-1.
