The offense struck quickly and the defense shackled Granite Falls in Coupeville’s 4-1 soccer win over the visiting Tigers Friday, April 11.

Zane Bundy burned Granite Falls with a goal less than a minute into the match, and the Wolves poured it on with a pair of goals from Abraham Leyva Elenes and another from Sean Donley.

Donley and Leyva Elenes also recorded assists, along with Loren Nelson.

On defense, Aaron Wright “had a good night, completely shutting down their offense on the right side,” coach Kyle Nelson said.

“It was a great team effort Friday night for a good win,” Nelson added.

The win was Coupeville’s fourth (surpassing last season’s total of three) with nine matches left.

The Wolves (3-3, 4-3) go to King’s (3-3, 4-4) at 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, for an important match. The two schools, along with South Whidbey (4-2, 6-2), at battling for the two 1A slots into the district tournament.
