Coming off a Friday loss at the hands of Archbishop Murphy High School where 11 errors were committed, the Coupeville softball team put together one of its best performances of the season Monday afternoon at Granite Falls.
In the two previous meetings against the Tigers the Wolf Pack had lost 13-0 and 11-0.
On Monday, the game went seven full innings before Granite Falls collected a double and a single to win the game 1-0.
“They knew they were in a ball game,” coach Denny Zylstra said. “To go from 11 errors in one game to none in the next is a big accomplishment in itself.”
Freshman Katie Smith singled in the top of the fourth inning for Coupeville’s only hit.
Alexis Trumbull and Megan Smith shared the pitching duties for Coupeville giving up six hits. Trumbull pitched the first five innings surrendering four hits and Smith tossed the final two.
“This game was a huge improvement for us,” Zylstra said.
