Granite Falls, spurred by an easy first-set win, defeated the visiting Coupeville High School volleyball team 3-1 Tuesday, Sept. 25.

Coupeville coach Toni Crebbin experimented with a different lineup for the first game, and the mixture didn’t work as the Tigers won 25-14.

Crebbin went back to her usual lineup for game two (with Lauren Escalle subbing for an injured Bessie Walstad), and that grouping eked out a 26-24 win.

Although Coupeville led most of the third game, Granite Falls (3-3) pulled out its own squeaker, 25-23, then took the fourth 25-19.

Crebbin called the Wolves’ offense “streaky” and “not what we wanted.”

Hailey Hammer led the way with 13 kills, and Megan Oakes added 19 assists.

Crebbin was “very pleased” with the play of libero Sydney Aparicio, who collected 26 digs.

The Wolves (1-5, 2-5) tangle with one of the state’s top 1A teams when King’s (6-0) comes to town for a 7 p.m. match Thursday, Sept. 27.
