The Fort Nugent fields will become home to Oak Harbor’s Seventh Annual Rock On! 3v3 Soccer Tournament Memorial Day weekend May 28 to 31.

North Whidbey Soccer Club is hosting the tournament of up to 100 teams.

The 3v3 soccer consists of two 12-minute halves with no stoppages of play (subs on the fly). The playing field is 30 yards wide by 40 yards long with a no-play zone in front of the goal instead of a goalie.

In addition to the 3v3 competition, the Rock On! will offer Goalie Wars which features two players on a short field, each trying to score as many goals as possible while simultaneously defending his or her own goal.

The game is played in two- or three-minute halves (depending on the age group) with a one-minute halftime.

Registration for the Rock On! 3v3 Soccer Tournament is open to age divisions U8 through U18.  Anyone may sign up teams to play; teams do not need “real coaches” – all they need is a willing adult to be “in charge.”

Any group of kids may be combined into a team; this is an opportunity for parents to register their kids to play with their siblings and best friends.  (Teams play to the oldest player’s age group; co-ed teams play in the boys’ division.)

For their $125 registration fee, teams are guaranteed three games, tournament shirts, goody bags for every player and a weekend of soccer, which will include lots of giveaways, live music and a special opening ceremony each day.
