Thelma Florence Kellogg

Thelma Florence Kellogg, 95-year-old Ten Sleep, a Wyoming resident, died at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center on April 2, 2009.

Thelma was born on April 7, 1913 in Detroit, Mich., a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seal. In 1920 Mr. Seal died, Thelma had just turned 7 years of age. In 1937 she was married to Myron Edward Bethel, Sr. in Chillicothe, Ohio. In 1956 Myron passed away in Pomona, Calif. During this time Thelma worked as a psychiatric tech for the California State Hospital. She was employed with them for 21 years.

Thelma was later married to Stanley K. Kellogg in 1964 in Pomona, Calif. They loved to travel and became members of the Cortez Motor Home Club, visiting most every state in the union. During this time she found a love for crocheting. She had made hundreds and hundreds of lap robes which she donated to the VA Hospital. She also enjoyed playing bingo. Thelma attended the Methodist Church where she was a greeter. As each season came she would make treats and crafts and donate them to the VA and the needy. She and Stanley moved for a short time to Palm Desert Greens in Palm Desert, Calif. Thelma also worked for Woolworths and Five & Dime Stores in the craft sections. She moved to Whidbey Island, Oak Harbor, in 1973 and finally moved to Ten Sleep in 1998 to be nearer her son.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Seal; parents: William and Gertrude Spangler; son, Jerry Bethel; daughter, Patricia Bethel; sisters, Ruby and Tike; and brothers, Bill and Richard Spangler.

She is survived by her son, Ed (Angel Griffiths) Bethel of Ten Sleep; brother, Don Spangler of Chico, Calif. ; grandchildren, Patricia Bethel, Stephanie Tyler, Thomas Woolen, Fletcher Woolen, Dawn Gummer and Lauri Paxton, all of Indio, Calif., and Tom Dailey of Gillette, Wyo.; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the New Hope Humane Society in care of Bryant Funeral Home P.O. Box 524, Worland, WY 82401. Bryant Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
