Sylvan Johnson, 78, of Oak Harbor, died Dec. 9, 2009 in Oak Harbor. He was born on Dec. 29, 1930 in Hurricane, Utah to Claude and Regina (Isom) Johnson.

Sylvan enlisted in the United States Navy in June of 1948, serving his country in Korea and in Vietnam. He retired in 1967.

Sylvan is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy of Oak Harbor; children, Keith Johnson and wife Suzie of Oak Harbor, Debra Johnson of Philadelphia, Penn., and David Johnson of Philadelphia; step-children, Jennifer Bos and husband Bryon of Oak Harbor, Scott Hambergh of Oak Harbor, Steve Hambergh and wife Lorna of Arlington, Wash., Bill South and wife Barbara of Oak Harbor, and Leslie South of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; sisters Janette Nielsen and husband Clare and Kathryn Humphries and husband Roy, all of Hurricane, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with Sylvan’s wishes, he was cremated. Services will be at a later date. Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor has been entrusted with arrangements.
