Stacie Catherine Farmer

Stacie Catherine Farmer, of Coupeville, was born on Sept. 15, 1986, in Ellensburg and entered her Heavenly home on Sept. 15, 2010, as the result of a bicycle traffic accident in Harpers Ferry, W.V. She had been employed in Harpers Ferry as a river guide and camp director at River Riders, Inc. Stacie was a 2005 graduate of Coupeville High School and a 2009 graduate of Colorado State University.

Stacie’s spontaneous, playful, sincere, peaceful spirit will be deeply missed. Her red dreadlocks and legendary facial expressions made her stand out from a crowd, but her love for life and for others is what everyone noticed. Stacie, who has been described as original, unique, and beautiful inside and out, lived a vibrant and full life. Her wild spirit took her around the world, exploring Europe, backpacking in the Himalayas, bush camping in Australia, cycling solo around Ireland, organic farming in New Zealand, educating children on forest ecology in Colorado, and guiding river rafts in West Virginia, to name but a few.

Stacie enjoyed the outdoors, softball, teaching children, learning, guiding, hiking, rafting, snowboarding, cycling, fishing, gardening, baking, and animals large and small. She had an intense curiosity and passion for the earth and the people in it.

Stacie’s compassionate, caring love and generosity for all is an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She ferociously stood up for what she believed in and for what she thought was right, regardless of the popularity of her views. Stacie was unconcerned with material possessions, money, or status, instead focusing on helping others and ensuring their needs were met. She loved with her whole heart, laughed readily and advocated for everyone and anyone. Perhaps this is best reflected in a quote she often shared, “Bhavatu sabba mangalam,” — May all beings be happy.

Stacie is the beloved daughter of Brian D. and Catherine F. (Aguayo) Farmer; dear sister of Lisa D. Farmer, David R. Farmer and his wife Anna Marie; cherished granddaughter of David R. and Bernice J. Farmer, and Richard D. and Neva M. Aguayo; great-granddaughter of Kathryn Aguayo; and adored niece of Jody A. (Farmer) Lynn and her husband Steven, Diane E. Aguayo, David R. Aguayo and his wife Heather, and Mary (Aguayo) Wales. She is also loved and missed by many cousins and close friends.
