Phyllis Maude Tilton passed away in Mount Vernon on Jan. 15, 2007. She was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Dec. 29, 1917. She was the oldest of three children of Claude Henry Rose and Mary Veronica (Moore) Rose. She moved to Revelstoke at the age of 3 then to Vancouver, B.C., in her teens.

She graduated from Kitsolana High School, then attended Duffa Business School. She later worked at the Hudson Bay Company and McDonald’s Chocolates. In 1937 she married Edgar Lund. She married James Tilton in 1944. They lived in Hedley and Salmo B.C., before moving to Chewelah, Wash., in 1950, then to Spokane where they resided until 1980. Upon retirement they wintered in Arizona and summered in Washington.

After her husband’s death in 1990, Phyllis resided near her family in Oak Harbor, Chewelah and La Conner. She was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and crocheting. While still able she enjoyed walking and the Crafty Ladies at the Oak Harbor Senior Center. She will be remembered for her loving, unselfish dedication to her family.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Maurice and Phyllis Lund, Lewis and Kay Tilton, Dawn and Gary Clark; her grandchildren and their spouses, James and Diane, Keith, Sandra, Michael and Rebecca, Jeffrey and Angela, Jennifer and Perry, Brian and Karri, and Steven; great-grandchildren, Stefanie, Matthew, Thomas, Heather, Brandon, Chase, Cole, Jacob, Cameron and Charlotte; and great-great grandson James David. She is also survived by families in Canada.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. at Kern Funeral Home in Mount Vernon.
