Edith ‘Dee’ Aimee Couture

Edith (“Dee”) Aimee Couture of Oak Harbor passed away Jan. 14, 2007 at University of Washington Medical Center. She was 58. Dee died after a brief battle with cancer.

Dee is survived by her husband, Dan; her daughter, Jodi Ingrodi and husband Travis, of Hanscom AFB, Mass.; her daughter Nichole Robke and husband Dennis of Redmond, Wash.; and four grandchildren, Christine, Lauren, Joseph, and Matthew. Also surviving is her sister Jeanne Rhynd of W. Yarmouth, Mass. Dee will be greatly missed by her loving family.

Dee was born in Ashland, Maine, in 1948 to Dwight and Marion Fenderson. She spent most of her childhood in Massachusetts and also lived in Tennessee, Missouri, California, and Idaho. She made Whidbey Island her home in 1994. A registered nurse for over 25 years, Dee cared for thousands of people who appreciated her tenderness and compassion. In addition to having earned a BS degree in nursing, she obtained advanced certifications in critical care. She was proud to have worked in the VA Hospital system for much of her career. Her family remembers her as a sweet and dedicated mother, a wonderful cook, a terrific story-teller, a lover of animals, and a talented artist. Dee also enjoyed swimming, camping, and all types of music. She was devoted to her family and her pets, and to nature conservancy.

A memorial service in Dee’s name will be held on Sunday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m. at Christ the King Community Church (at the Au Sable Institute), 180 Parker Rd., Coupeville.

She was interred at Tahoma National Cemetery in a private family service on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in the name of Edith Aimee Couture to the American Cancer Society.
