Pansy Schreiter

Pansy Schreiter, 97, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2011, at Careage of Whidbey care facility. Pansy’s husband Bill of 39 loving years had passed away only weeks before.

Born May 23, 1914, in Pleasantville, Iowa, Pansy was raised in Des Moines, Iowa, before moving or Washington state in the 1940s. She and Bill have lived 26 years just outside Oak Harbor. Pansy and Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, family, traveling and their frequent trips to Alaska. She had a full and adventurous life and seemed to always get the biggest fish or deer. She said “patience is a virtue” and then proved it.

Pansy will be remembered and eternally loved by her son Jerry Green and wife Nancy of Anchorage, Alaska, stepson Craig Schreiter and wife Martha of Salem, Ore., and stepdaughter Sarah Mears and husband John of Seattle. Pansy is also survived by seven grandchildren, Steve, Shannon and Scott Patterson, Matthew and Cindy Green and Kirk Schreiter and Rachel Lochran; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 9, at San de Fuca Chapel. Pansy will be buried at 3 p.m. at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
