Luke McNett

Luke McNett, 52, of Oak Harbor, passed away May 5, 2010, after a short fight with cancer.

Luke was born March 2, 1958, on the Island of Guam to Lloyd and Muriel McNett while Lloyd was stationed there in the Navy. The youngest of five children, Luke grew up in Oak Harbor and started a painting business in town after graduating from high school.

He married Sonya Williamson and had two sons, Jeremy and Douglas. After separating from his wife, Luke moved to Florida and lived on the Gulf Coast with his best friend Lucky, a long-haired sheep dog. His favorite things to do were living on the Florida beach and watching Lucky swim in the ocean. Lucky followed him everywhere and watched his every move. When Luke was on the job painting, Lucky was always nearby waiting for Luke to finish the job. Luke also loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles across the country with his brother-in-law Larry Mayfield.

Luke is survived by his son Jeremy and granddaughter Bella, 6, and son Douglas and daughter-in-law Katie, and grandsons Gavin, 3, and Jaeden, 1. Douglas is serving in the Air Force living with his family in Germany. He just recently finished a tour in Afghanistan as a combat medic.

Luke is also survived by his mom, Muriel McNett, sisters Nancy Junker, Sharon Beal and Patti Mayfield, and brother Tim McNett.
