LaVonne Helen Meyer

LaVonne Helen Meyer, 75, longtime resident of Oak Harbor, passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2010, at McKinley’s Adult Family Home near Oak Harbor.

Mrs. Meyer was born on Oct. 8, 1934, in Winona, Minn., to Raymond and Leona (Brandt) Guidinger. She was raised in Winona. LaVonne married Ralph J. Meyer, Jr., in Iowa, and the couple remained in Winona for a time. They later moved to Fountain City, Wisc., where they resided for a number of years. They returned to Winona, and then moved to Oak Harbor in 1985 following Ralph’s retirement.

LaVonne was employed as a caregiver and a home health nurse. She enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a member of Babes by the Bay and several sewing clubs.

LaVonne is survived by three children, Donna Obieglo (James) and Robert Meyer (Marlene) both of Oak Harbor, and Bonnie Splett (David V.) of Lynnwood and Oak Harbor; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry and Eugene Guidinger, both of Winona; also, numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Meyer, Jr. in February 2001; her mother, Leona Guidinger in September 2001, and by her father Raymond Guidinger and sister Beverly Guidinger many years ago.
