Judith June Enewold, Navy wife and mother, passed away Feb. 16, 2006 from complications associated with cancer.
Born Jan. 15, 1951 to James and the late Eleanor Stoever in Patterson, N.J., she grew up in Albuquerque, N.M. Judi attended Highland High School and excelled in academics and music. She played oboe for the All State Band and won numerous awards in music. In 1972, Judi graduated from the University of New Mexico with degrees in mathematics and English with a teaching certificate.
While attending the university she met her future husband, Midshipman Steven Enewold. After graduation and teaching eighth and ninth graders for a year, they married in June 1973. In addition to her ensign husband, she assumed the duties of a “Navy wife.”
With multiple moves throughout the United States that included Pensacola, Fla.; San Diego, Calif.; Edwards AFB, Calif.; China Lake, Calif.; Patuxent River, Md.; and Whidbey Island, where they lived when he was a member of the A-6 community, they eventually settled in Burke Virginia with their two daughters.
Both girls attended Robinson Secondary School, went to college, earned Bachelor of Science degrees, and married their college sweethearts. The single accomplishment Judi was most proud of was raising two productive and happy daughters.
When her husband was promoted to Rear Admiral Upper Half and after 30 years of marriage, Judi was given an honorary promotion to Vice Admiral for her years of unwavering and outstanding service as a “Navy wife” and mother.
Judi is survived by her husband, RADM Steven L. Enewold; Jeff and Jeanine Goldberg (daughter); Theodore and Lynnette Johnson (daughter); Theodore James Johnson (grandson); James and Louella Stoever (father and step-mother); and Robert Stoever (brother).
She will be buried March 7 at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund at www.ocrf.org.
