Joyce Cecelia Kelley

Joyce Cecilia Kelley, 60, a resident of Coupeville for 20 years, passed away at her home on April 19, 2009. A few times in life, if you are lucky, you meet someone larger than life, someone so dynamic that her presence is felt the moment she enters a room. Joyce was such a person. People were her passion, and it was her ability to completely empathize with others on a deep and personal level, both in joy and in sadness, that touched all who knew her. She touched so many with her smile, laughter and wit.

She was born Sept. 30, 1948, in Pocatello, Idaho, the daughter of Cecil and Wanda (Janicki) Kelley. In 1951 the Kelley family moved to Clear Lake, Wash., and there Joyce was raised and attended grade school. She attended middle school and high school in Sedro-Woolley and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School with the class of 1966.

Joyce enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Adams and her husband, Adi Marino of Hood River, Ore., Collette Adams of Everett and Danielle Porter (Cheston Perry) of Seattle; her mother, Wanda Kelley and sister, Pola Kelley, both of Sedro-Woolley; two brothers, Ray Kelley and Tim Kelley, both of Clear Lake; six grandchildren, Zach Adams, Chloe and Savannah Adams-Ronk, Kaia Uylemann, Jazz Adams and Jai Bodhi Marino; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Kelley; an infant sister, Nancy Kelley; and a sister, Wanda Pitman.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Joyce Kelley Memorial Fund at any Washington Mutual Bank.
