Jose Dantes Macaraeg, Sr.

Jose Dantes Macaraeg, Sr. of Bremerton passed peacefully with his family by his side on May 4, 2010. Born on July 21, 1939 in Olongapo City, Philippines to Maxima Dantes Macaraeg and Macario Guerrero Macaraeg, Jose is survived by his wife, Linda Bogue Macaraeg, children Jocelyn Macaraeg Smith and Jose Sia Macaraeg, Jr. (children of Erlinda Sia Harris), daughters Kenda Kammenga Chambers and Kari Kammenga Feyerherm (children of Linda) and five siblings.

Jose retired from the U.S. Navy in 1979 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer after 20 years. He retired from a second career after 20 years of service with the U.S. Government for the Fitting Out and Supply Support Team. Jose married Linda Bogue in 1984. They enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, Christian Bible Fellowship, Peninsula Fruit Club, traveling and their seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Since 1963, Brother Jose (32nd degree) was a life member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. In 1996, Jose was elected Worshipful Master of Silverdale Lodge No. 311.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15, 3 p.m., at Silverdale United Methodist Church. The burial service was held on May 10 at Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor. His final resting place is at the Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor.

In lieu of flowers the family gratefully suggests donations in Jose’s memory to the American Diabetes Association or Christian Bible Fellowship Church.
