Erika Gates, 81, died July 20, 2008, at Careage of Whidbey, after a prolonged illness. She was born March 9, 1927 in Bad Neustadt, A.D. Saale, Germany to Erich Hartung and Maria Schmitt Hartung.

A memorial service for Erika Gates will be held Tuesday, July 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Oak Harbor First United Methodist Church with Pastor David Lura officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow in Centennial Hall.
