Dortha Ruth Hoshaw, 83, of Oak Harbor, died July 29, 2008, in Oak Harbor. She was born Oct. 29, 1924, in Ventura, Calif., to William Sherman and Leo Katheryn (McMillian) Kalbaugh. On June 29, 1957, Dortha Ruth married Walter G. Hoshaw in California. They moved to Oak Harbor in 1958. Walter preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2002.

Dortha Ruth worked for civil service for many years. She was a Christian woman and an active member of Family Bible Church in Oak Harbor. She was also a very loving mother and enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her children Peter Zielinski of Chadsworth, Calif., William Zielinski of Northern California, Jan and husband Tim Calkins of Meadow Vista, Calif., and Evamaria Hoshaw of Oak Harbor; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Barbara Mack of Ventura, Calif.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. at Family Bible Church in Oak Harbor. Urn placement will be at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery.

Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor has been entrusted with arrangements.
