Donna Mae Van Dreumel

Donna Mae Van Dreumel, 36, died April 2, 2010 at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, from injuries sustained in an accident at the Tesoro Refinery, Anacortes. She was born in Sacramento, Calif., on June 24, 1973 to Vernon and Debra (Culwell) Mincks.

Donna was raised in Sacramento. Following graduation from high school, Donna enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While stationed aboard the USS Platte, she met a fellow sailor and on Feb. 13, 1999, she and James Van Dreumel were married in Olean, New York.

Donna and James were transferred to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. Donna left the Navy in 1999 and she and Jim began raising a family. In 2001, she was hired by Tesoro Refinery as a general operator. She enjoyed her work at the refinery.

Donna assisted her daughter’s Girl Scout Troop. She enjoyed reading, horses, friends and family.

Her husband James, daughter Emma and son Samuel, all of Oak Harbor, survive Donna. Her mother Debra Frack (Larry) of Eagle Lake, Calif., her father Vernon Mincks of Sacramento, sisters Angela Mincks and Michelle Mincks and brother John DeMarco, all of Sacramento also survive.

Memorial services were held at Burley Funeral Chapel on April 7 with Rev. Jerry Piper of Olean, New York Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside committal services were held at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
