Carol Leilani Leitch

Carol Leilani Leitch, 52, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Feb. 18, 2011, in her Arlington, Wash., home. Carol was born April 27, 1958, in Honolulu, Hawaii to Milford (Bernie) and Marilyn Berner. Carol was the third of five children. Her father’s Navy career brought her family to Oak Harbor in 1966 and Carol graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1977.

Carol married Tony Leitch in 1978 and their adventures took them throughout Washington – from Seattle, to Kent, Renton, Issaquah, Spokane and to Lynnwood. There were a few exciting years in Antioch, Calif., before returning to Washington to finally settle down in Arlington in 2007.

In addition to raising the three children she loved so much, Carol enjoyed sewing, crafts, the theater, and was an active Girl Scout leader. Carol loved children and children loved Carol!

Carol is survived by her husband of 32 years, Tony, and their three children: daughter Kristi M. Deehan and her husband Jason of Ottawa, Canada, daughter Stacey M. Miller and her husband Kristian of Spokane, and son Andrew B. Leitch of Arlington. Carol is also survived by one granddaughter, Ava Grace Miller, and step grandchildren Conor and Sinead Deehan.

Carol will forever be remembered by her four siblings. In Oak Harbor are three brothers: Gary Berner and his wife Nancy, Steven Berner and his wife JoAnn, and Christopher Berner. In Cle Elum are sister Kathy Barr and her husband Greg.

Carol was also deeply loved by caring in-laws Bill and Betty Leitch of Oak Harbor, Belinda and Bob Mower of Spokane, Lauri and Steve Brown of Issaquah, and Mary and Mark McGee of Auburn. Carol also has many nieces, nephews and friends that she loved very much.

Carol was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Arlington. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception, officiated by Father Jim Dalton. A reception will follow at the church.

The family requests all donations be sent to The Carol Leitch Memorial Fund at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org.
