Wildcat teams earn academic honors

Three Oak Harbor High School fall athletic teams were honored by the Washington State Interscholastic Activities Association for their academic achievements.

Three Oak Harbor High School fall athletic teams were honored by the Washington State Interscholastic Activities Association for their academic achievements.

The Wildcat volleyball team, coached by Kerri Molitor, and the swim team, coached by Erin Bull, received Outstanding Team Awards for posting  3.75 and 3.593 grade-point averages respectively.

The soccer team, coached by Mike Lonborg, sported a 3.133 GPA and received a Distinguished Team Award.

All three teams are eligible for the State Academic Award for their sport, according to Oak Harbor High School Athletic Director Nicki Luper; the award will be announced at a later date.

Each member of the Oak Harbor teams will receive a certificate, and those on the Outstanding Teams receive an insignia for their letter jackets.

Congratulations to all of the team members and coaches,” Luper said. “You have demonstrated the importance of being outstanding student athletes.”
