Coupeville junior Valen Trujillo finished third in singles, one place shy of qualifying for the state tournament, at the 1A District 3 Tennis Tournament Thursday, May 19, at Spanaway.

The sophomore doubles team of Payton Aparicio and Sage Renninger claimed fifth, while senior Sydney Autio in singles and the senior team of McKenzie Bailey and Jazmine Franklin in doubles each failed to place.

Coupeville results:

Trujillo won 6-1, 6-0; lost 6-3, 6-1; won 6-3, 6-0; won 6-1, 6-1.

Autio lost 6-0, 6-0; lost 6-2, 6-3.

Aparicio/Renninger won 7-5, 6-2; lost 6-1, 6-4; lost 6-2, 6-4.

Bailey/Franklin lost 6-0, 6-0; lost 6-2, 6-0.
