Two of Oak Harbor’s four entries in the Wesco 3A divisional tennis tournament won in the first round Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Jackson High School in Mill Creek.

The Wildcats’ Ben Cardinal (No. 7 seed) defeated Isaac Brengalmann (10) of Shorewood 7-6, 6-1 in singles.

Oak Harbor’s Josh Evans and Brandon Vagt (8) topped Everett’s Mark Iringan and Alex Searle (9) 6-3, 7-5.

Both local entries fell in the second round. Cardinal lost to Brendan Soelling (2) of Everett 0-6, 0-6 and will meet David Lyons (6) of Shorecrest in a loser-out match today, Oct. 20.

Evans and Vagt were beaten by top-seeded Scott Bohmke and Grant Lovell of Meadowdale 3-6, 2-6. Today they face Jared Kowalski and Lyon Vegara (5) of Shorecrest in the elimination round.

The first round of play was single elimination and Oak Harbor’s other two entries were defeated. David DeGuzman lost to top-seeded Alex Casper of Meadowdale 1-6, 0-6; and the team of Max O’Dell and Will Southard (15) fell 0-6, 0-6 to Dylan Mozlowski and Jake Davis of Glacier Peak (2).
